In the United States, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation works to improve access to technology and to expand educational opportunities. Safal worked with the foundation’s K-12 Education Team on their teacher preparation initiatives. One project focused on the creation of a data dashboard meant to help educator preparation programs identify trends, program strengths, and areas of improvement. Through another project, Safal helped the foundation assess the efficacy of educator preparation programs across all 20 Education Service Centers (ESC) in Texas. After collecting and synthesizing data, Safal distributed a region-specific report to each ESC. The project focused on evaluating the Texas teacher pipeline for both volume and quality, then communicating these findings so stakeholders could address risks and highlight strengths.
