Client Goals

The primary objective is to create and pilot a new IET Design Toolkit and IET Design Camp training intended to assist state and local adult education staff to plan, design, implement, and assess effective IET programs that meet the requirements in 34 CFR 463 subparts D and G. To support this effort, Safal is co-leading the development of the IET Design Toolkit and IET Design Camp training materials and deliver TA of IET Program Design Camps based on an IET Program Toolkit through virtual webinar series.

Safal Approach

Safal co-leads the OCTAE efforts with IMPAQ international and Maher & Maher for the Enhancing Integrated Education and Training (IET) Opportunities for Adults to deliver a national Technical Assistance (TA) series of IET Program Design Camps based on an IET Program Toolkit and Design Camp TA materials. Safal led the work in developing the content for aligning WIOA legislation with OCTAE’s vision to translate into a replicable model for standing up WIOA-eligible IET programs. The IET Design Camp, a 9-week intensive, virtual cohort model professional learning opportunity, is designed for local program adult educators and state WIOA Title II leaders to learn how to design and implement IET programs from the research and assessment phase. Participants work with businesses and postsecondary institutions to design curriculum and instruction integrating the three required components: adult education standards, occupational technical skills standards, and workplace skills competencies. Safal supported the development of the content for the interactive, online toolkit with an IET program design readiness self-assessment to target the toolkit training materials to the needs of the individual program development team. Safal led the instructional design and content development for the design camp materials including the presentation decks and facilitator and participant guides.
