Project Details

Agency Name: Texas Education Agency

Agency Type: State

Services: Technical Assistance, Strategic Communications

Client Goals

In response to Covid-19 school closures, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) procured learning resources, as a contingency option for school districts in the 2020-2021 academic year. The response has extended into further development of resources to accelerate learning to combat learning loss resulting from Covid-19. TEA has launched the COVID Recovery Instructional Materials Support Initiative (CRIMSI) to support districts, charters, and schools in piloting high-quality instructional materials in the core contents of Reading Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Integrated Prekindergarten, along with a corresponding digital platform. Safal is engaged in this work with TEA to apply continuous improvement to the strategy, processes, training, supports, and overall evaluation of the initiative.

Safal Approach

The CRIMSI initiative will provide resources, implementation support, and coaching to over 25,000 educators between January 2022- June 2025. Safal has developed and is implementing a communication plan for varied stakeholders that provides information in an easy, accessible, digestible manner that elicits and encourages continued engagement throughout the initiative. Safal has developed and is implementing strategic systems and processes to ensure teachers, school leaders, district leaders, etc. have access to high-quality print and digital materials. Safal provides real-time data to the TEA and to districts on their progress and assists with identified areas of growth. Finally, Safal has developed and is implementing a robust research and evaluation plan that will have implications for local, state, and national high-quality instructional materials implementation initiatives and student learning loss.
