Community Partnership Technical Assistance

Project Details

Agency Name: Texas Education Agency

Agency Type: State

Services: Technical Assistance and Strategic Communications

Client Goals

The TEA wanted to support school districts in developing community partnerships that lead to improved academic results for students. As a technical assistance provider, Safal is engaged to support three districts in conducting a SWOT analysis, building a collective action network, developing a strategic plan for implementation, developing data dashboards to track progress, and creating marketing collateral to raise awareness about the community partnerships.

Safal Approach

Safal is the technical assistance provider to the following community partnership grantees: East Austin College Prep, who is building a healing-centered community school model, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD, who is building partnerships with community childcare centers to improve early childhood outcomes, and Houston ISD, who is building out mentoring initiatives to support struggling students, and Crowley ISD, who is building out community access to resources and support services by strengthening feeder patterns and high quality coordinated programs for social services, health, and academic support. Because each district has different needs, Safal tailored our technical assistance based on where each district needed the most support. Safal is engaging the entire community—including district leaders, campus staff, parents, and community partners—to help districts assess needs and develop relationships. Safal facilitates workshops to support district and campus leaders in building a strong school foundation and integrating community engagement to improve academics. Our team is also developing data dashboards that provide both a baseline assessment and progress-tracking capabilities for the districts. Finally, we are developing compelling marketing materials about these growing community partnerships.
